WOCCSE Welcomes New Director, Jonathan Raymond We are excited to officially welcome Jonathan Raymond as the new Director of the West Orange County Consortium for Special Education (WOCCSE). Following Board action in November, Jonathan has already made an outstanding start, jumping into his role with energy, humility, and a deep commitment to collaboration. In his first weeks, Jonathan has been actively engaged in Listening and Learning Tours with district Special Education Directors, visiting school sites and classrooms, meeting with staff, and building relationships across the consortium. He also convened his first Community Advisory Committee meeting, where he supported a thoughtful conversation on family engagement and community partnership. His leadership approach, grounded in connection, curiosity, and service, has already made a positive impression. Jonathan’s selection followed a thoughtful and collaborative search process guided by input from district directors and WOCCSE staff. Feedback highlighted the importance of identifying a leader with strong communication and mediation skills, district level experience, operational knowledge of special education systems, and a commitment to nurturing a positive team culture. Jonathan stood out as the candidate who best embodied these values. Jonathan began his career as a behavior aide with the Greater Anaheim SELPA and has since served as a classroom teacher, TOSA, coordinator, and for the past eight years the Director of Special Education for Charter Oak Unified School District. His leadership is characterized by strengthening inclusive practices, expanding staff training, and enhancing supports for students with diverse learning needs. He is known for his collaborative style, relationship building, and partnership with families and staff. We would also like to extend our sincere appreciation to Lindy for her dedicated leadership during the interim period. Her steady guidance ensured continuity and stability, especially as the team navigated CALPADS, procedural reviews, and the busy fall season. Lindy will continue supporting Jonathan over the next few weeks as part of his onboarding process. We are thrilled to welcome Jonathan to the WOCCSE CREW and look forward to the continued work ahead as we champion excellence for students, staff, and districts across our consortium. Welcome aboard, Jonathan
