WOCCSE is committed to providing Professional Learning (PL) opportunities that respond to the unique needs of each of our member districts. Our approach includes offering SELPA-wide professional learning sessions, as well as trainings tailored to the priorities, programs, and staffing structures of individual LEAs.
WOCCSE's Commitment to Professional Learning:
Provide a comprehensive professional learning plan for educators and families grounded in best practices in special education.
Develop and share an annual calendar of staff training opportunities with member LEAs.
Ensure effective and timely communication of training opportunities across the consortium.
Equip district representatives to return to their LEAs and expand learning through a train-the-trainer model.
Collaborate with partner agencies to support high-quality staff development across the county.
WOCCSE proudly serves as an approved Professional Development Provider (PDP) for both Speech-Language Pathologists and School Psychologists, supporting ongoing learning and professional excellence.
Approved PDP through the California Speech-Language Pathology & Hearing Aid Dispensers Board since 2015.
SLPs must complete 24 hours of continuing professional development every two years.
WOCCSE provides certificates, maintains sign-in sheets and evaluations, and can submit documentation to the State Board upon request.
Approved PDP through the National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) since December 2023.
California-licensed school psychologists (LEP, LMFT, LPCC, LCSW): 36 hours every two years.
Nationally Certified School Psychologists (NCSP): 75 hours every three years.
WOCCSE maintains all required PD records for NASP verification; approval renews every two years.
