We are proud to recognize our WOCCSE Lighthouse Award recipient for the month of December.

The Lighthouse Award honors individuals who lead with heart, steadiness, and purpose and who quietly shine a light for others while supporting students, families, and colleagues. This December, we are thrilled to celebrate Melanie Mazza from Ocean View School District, who exemplifies this spirit each and every day.

Melanie is deeply student centered and always grounded in what is best for children. She understands that meaningful support extends beyond the classroom and consistently shows up for families with care, guidance, and advocacy. She builds strong relationships and offers support when it matters most.

Melanie goes above and beyond not for recognition but because she genuinely cares. Her dedication, consistency, and compassion have made a lasting impact across our SELPA, and her steady presence continues to support students, families, and colleagues alike.

What makes Melanie’s light shine brightest is her humility. She does this work quietly without seeking attention, yet her impact is felt every single day.
